Highlights

DAY 1: FEZ – IFRANE – AZROU – MIDELT

Good morning, we will start your desert tour from Fes to Marrakech with minimal driving with an early departure from Fes. Travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping at Ifrane, Known as “little Moroccan Switzerland,” Ifrane features houses with sloping roofs, wide avenues and well-kept parks that can easily be confused with a city in the Alps. After that we will head to the forests of cedar (the largest in Morocco) where are huge trees and wild monkeys. Then we will drive to Midelt where you will have your break lunch then transfer to your hotel.

DAY 2: MIDELT – ZIZ VALLEY – MERZOUGA

After breakfast, we will cross the Ziz valley on the way to the Sahara desert of Merzouga / Erg Chebbi, we will pass by Erfoud, a town that is famous for fossils and dates. It is a beautiful experience to drive a camel to Erg Chebbi, where the silence of the desert is dominant.

DAY 3: MERZOUGA – DESERT TOUR IN 4X4 – CAMEL RIDE – NIGHT IN THE DESERT

Good morning after breakfast, your excursion will start from the tents taking you through the sand-sea dunes near the Algerian border where you will have a chance to take photos and see the black volcanic rocks. We will also have the opportunity to meet a nomad family and learn about their nomadic lifestyle. We will pass close to tiny Berber villages, like Tamrdanite, before we reach Khamlia. In the tiny desert village of Khamlia, we will be treated to a performance of Gnawa music, a spiritual and hypnotic form of music that has been played for centuries by the black people who live here. Gnawa music is internationally recognized and is said to have healing properties. Along our short drive today, you will be enchanted with the view of the lake at Ait Sareji, especially in springtime, when it attracts pink flamingos and many other birds. Night in the hotel next to the Erg chebbi sand dunes.

DAY 4: ERG CHEBBI – THE GORGES OF TOUDRA

We will get up early to admire the beautiful sunrise and climb the dunes, then you will have your breakfast and you will ride on camels to meet your driver. Then we will continue to the Toldra Gorges by Rissani where we will stop a bit to visit its traditional souk which is considered the largest of all the southern Morocco, we will continue to the Toldra Gorges. Overnight at the hotel in the Todra Gorge.

DAY 5: TOUDRA GORGES – DADES GORGES – SKOURA OASIS – OUARZAZATE

After breakfast at your hotel, we will walk a little between the gorges before continuing to the Dades Valley and the Rose Valley. In the oasis of Skoura, we will stop to visit one of the oldest kasbahs of southern Morocco dating back 700 years (Kasbah Ameridil), then we will go to Ouarzazate to visit the old Kasbah of Taourirte, classified world heritage, and the museum of cinema. Installation at your hotel in Ouarzazate.

DAY 6: OUARZAZATE – AIT BEN HADDOU UNESCO KASBAH – MARRAKECH

After breakfast and before continuing towards Marrakech, we will visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, where numerous films have been shot, especially those set in the Sahara such as Kingdom of Heaven, Cleopatra, and Gladiator. Then, we will proceed towards Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi N’Tichka pass. Along the way, we’ll encounter numerous Berber villages and farms. Arrival in Marrakech, end of your Fes to Marrakech with Minimal Driving.
